Engaging in Genuine Worship! Romans 12:1-2

Posted 4/15/2018

Sunday Morning Message by Pastor Lee Evans

Engaging in Genuine Worship!

Romans 12:1-2

1) Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship. 2)  Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

Review from John 4:23-24
Worship is…

•An encounter with the Living & Holy God  (Isa. 6; John 4)
Subjective & Objective. We worship with our heart & emotions, His Spirit guides us by the Word of God.
God-focused not man-focused. It is for Him

4. Worship is Giving Yourself to God

“…I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship…” Rom. 12:1
•Present -  to yield yourself to; to give yourself
•Bodies – not just your soul
•As a Living Sacrifice – not dead one
•Holy – morally blameless, set apart from evil & for God…

5.  Worship is the Reasonable & Spiritual act of one who considers Who God is & What He has done

“which is your reasonable service.” Rom. 12:1
•Reasonable – logical
•When – we think about God and the “mercies to God” that He has shown to us…

6. Worship is Transforming, Rom. 12:2

Conformation comes from the Outside
“to be fashioned, shaped, pressed into the shape of the outside world.”
Transformation comes from the Inside
The Holy Spirit changes us as He “renews our mind” through God’s Word as we know & do His will.
•Private Worship –  Jesus regularly got away from the crowd and spent time with God. Do You???
•Public Worship –Jesus regularly worshiped with Others.  Do You?

What do you need to do to become a genuine worshiper?

•Have you trusted Jesus as your Savior & Lord?
•Are you holding back from God or have you Given yourself FULLY to Him?
•Are you allowing the Holy  Spirit to transform you from the inside out?
