Posted 7/1/2018

Sunday morning Sermon by Pastor Lee Evans

You Can Pray for Your Family
& Our Nation!

Matthew 6:9-13

9)  In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10)  Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. 11)  Give us this day our daily bread. 12)  And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. 13)  And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

You Can Pray for Others...
1. Pray for their Relationship with Jesus, v. 9
2. Pray for them to live a life of Worship, v. 9
3. Pray for Jesus’ Lordship in their life, v. 10
4. Pray for their Stewardship as they depend on God each day, v. 11
5. Pray for their Fellowship with God & others, v. 12

“Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one…”, v. 13   Discipleship is about becoming like Christ & being victorious over, not a victim of the evil one!

6. Discipleship

In praying this we are acknowledging that:

  a. We are all led by something/someone,    1 John 2:15-16; Matt. 6:24

  b. We are “tempted”, James 1:12-14

  c. We have an ENEMY, John 8:44; 10:10; 2 Cor.   4:4; 11:13-  15; Eph. 6:11-12; 1 Peter 5:8

  d. We Need God’s Protection & help, 1 Cor.   10:12,13; Psalm 91

·Discipleship is a process, of becoming Victors over Satan not his Victims!
1 John 4:4; Rom. 5:17

… for all who receive it (God’s grace) will live in triumph over sin & death through this one man, Jesus Christ. Rom. 5:17 (NLT)

“If we are living under the dominion of sin it is either because we are ignorant of the way of deliverance or because deep in our being we do not want to be delivered…” Oswald Sanders, p. 121

 ·Discipleship is a process! 1 John 4:4; Rom. 5:17

 a. Jesus has “delivered us” ;Freed us from the power of sin, Rom. 6:4,6-8,11,17,18,22

b. We no longer HAVE to sin, Rom. 6:12-14

c. We have to Choose to Give yourself to God! Rom. 6:12-14; 19; Rom. 12:1-2

d. We must learn to Stand in the Power of His Spirit & be clothed with His Armor, Eph. 6:12-19

7. Worship!

“For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. “ –

He is our King we Live for His Kingdom

His power is the Power we live in

His glory is what we seek!

Romans 5:17 (NLT) 17  For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:17 (CSBBible) 17  Since by the one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive the overflow of grace and the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.

Romans 6:13 (NLT) 13  Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.

Romans 6:13 (CSBBible) 13  And do not offer any parts of it to sin as weapons for unrighteousness. But as those who are alive from the dead, offer yourselves to God, and all the parts of yourselves to God as weapons for righteousness.
